  • have a spinal cord injury for at least 1 year.
  • have paralysis in the legs and have at least half of key muscles below the neurological level of injury with a motor strength testing score less than 2/5.
  • be able to participate in study exercises 1-2 hours per day and commit for 1 year training program.
  • be between the ages of 19 and 55 years.

  • have a spinal cord injury for at least 2 years.
  • have a neurological level of injury below C5.
  • have one of the following ASIA impairment scale (AIS) classifications:
  • AIS A: complete; no feeling or movement below the injury
  • AIS B: incomplete; have some feeling, but no movement, below the injury
  • have a caregiver or companion with them throughout their participation in the study.
  • use a wheelchair as their primary mode of mobility.
  • be between the ages of 18 and 70 years.
