This trial is enrolling 15 individuals with chronic spinal cord injuries to test the effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on cognitive function. If included, participants will undergo a 12 week NMES program, three times a week. NMES consists of electrical stimulation applied for 30 min to the front thigh muscles of both legs. Investigators want to see if the stimulation improves cognitive test scores by changing blood levels of BDNF, a nerve growth and survival protein (myokine). Final testing of cognitive function will be performed 12 weeks after the intervention.
