This is a clinical trial is recruiting individuals with recent spinal cord injuries (less than 10 days) to test the effect of vibration stimulation of the legs on the development of spasticity. Vibratory stimulation of the legs has recently been shown to provide several rehabilitation benefits. The investigators want to see if this intervention (called functional proprioceptive stimulation) reduces spasticity and promotes functional recovery in tetraplegic and high paraplegic participants. This study specifically investigates spasticity (involuntary muscle contractions), sensory function (sensation), and motor function (leg movement). Pain, muscle wasting, and cognitive impairment will also be measured. If included in the study, participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two study groups: either receiving vibration treatment; or receiving sham stimulation. Final testing will be performed after one year.
