This trial is recruiting individuals with recent cervical (neck area) spinal cord injuries to test the effect of upper limb strength training on muscle function. If included, participants will undergo either 8 weeks of Progressive Resistance Training (PRT) twice a week with weights or resistance bands (i.e., 3 sets of 8-10 repetitions per muscle group), or standard physical therapy care for 90 minutes up to 2 times per day, 4-5 times per week. Measurements of muscle strength and function will be assessed before and after the study.
