This study is enrolling individuals with spinal cord injuries to test the safety and effect of an experimental stem cell therapy. The cells used are derived from the adipose (fat) tissue of each participant. A minor surgery will be performed to obtain fat from the stomach or thigh. The stem cells will be separated from the fat and allowed to multiply for 4-6 weeks. These stem cells (called adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells) will be injected by needle into the spinal fluid at the lumbar (lower back area) spine. Besides safety, researchers will measure any sensory or motor improvements. Follow up will occur over a period of 96 weeks.
