This trial is recruiting individuals with acute cervical spinal cord injuries to test whether draining cerebrospinal fluid from around the spinal cord in combination with a drug to boost blood pressure will increase recovery. The hypothesis is that regulating blood pressure will result in less cell death and nerve cell damage, leading to an improvement in neurological function. Participants will receive a norepinephrine drug to raise mean arterial pressure (average blood pressure) along with spinal fluid drainage, or drug without spinal fluid drainage. Participants will have neurological exams at 3 days, 3 months, and 6 months after treatment.

The participant will receive a drug to raise mean arterial pressure (MAP; average blood pressure in the arteries) for 5 days, in combination with or without draining some fluid from around their spine. Neurological exam 3 days, 3 months, and 6 months after the intervention.
