This is a rehabilitation trial recruiting participants with chronic spinal cord injuries to test the use of a surgically implanted device that electrically stimulates the spinal cord (epidural stimulation) in combination with training for standing and stepping. Participants will start with 80 sessions of step/stand training, then will receive surgery to implant the electrical stimulation device over the spinal cord. Participants will continue stepping and standing with electrical stimulation turned on for 80-200 sessions. Researchers want to see if training results in better standing and stepping. Participants will be measured for the amount of time they are able to stand without manual assistance and also for the number of steps taken without manual assistance.
