This is a clinical study recruiting individuals with incomplete cervical (neck area) spinal cord injuries to test a device (BrainGate2) that may allow control of a computer cursor with thoughts. Participants will receive surgery to place the device into the part of the brain that controls motor function. The electrodes of the device will record brain signals and decode them with a computer. Weekly testing will occur for 13 months. Researchers hope this trial leads to a larger one, also including those with brainstem stroke, muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or other motor nerve disorders.
